This will fund a high performing PC built with specific AI performance elements to support high processing power and speed, enabling the development and testing of a prototype mental health support system for all, free for veterans and first responders.
“Mental health support should be a lifeline, always within reach. ”
I’m Jay Lulham, a Royal Australian Navy veteran who served for 13.5 years, including deployments to the Persian Gulf and Southeast Asia, and two years with border protection, operating out of Darwin on patrol boats. As a single father, I’ve raised my 15-year-old daughter since she was two, and through every challenge, we’ve built an unbreakable bond. She’s my biggest supporter, cheering me on in life and this mission. In 2012, mental health struggles hit me hard, showing me the mind’s power and complexity—and the stark lack of support. The loneliness, fear, and scarce services were overwhelming, and I’ve lost too many friends to their battles.
Today, mental health professionals in Australia are overwhelmed, with shortages leaving them unable to meet demand. Recent data shows 9 in 10 psychiatrists believe these shortages risk patient care, and high attrition rates—nearly 30% for nurses and over 26% for allied mental health practitioners—worsen the crisis. Professionals are inundated with clients, lacking the time and resources to provide effective support, leading to long waiting lists and burnout. This leaves many, especially those in crisis, without timely help.
That’s why I’m building an AI-powered mental health tool to give everyone a safe space to talk in tough moments. It will listen, help people understand their emotions, and use psychological assessment tools to evaluate mental health during natural conversations, generating reports for medical professionals to make therapy more effective and tailored.
Medical professionals, from GPs to psychologists, have offered their support and urged me to keep pursuing this mission, as it’s desperately needed in the industry. My goal is to have this system medically certified for professional use.
I need a high performing PC built with specific AI performance elements to support high processing power and speed to build this prototype. Your support will help bridge the gap for those waiting for care, making mental health support accessible to all.
The high performing PC built with specific AI performance elements will:
• Develop an AI that listens, offers personalised support, and assesses mental health in the background.
• Test the system to ensure it works for diverse users and meets medical standards.
• Train the AI with psychological tools to analyse emotions and generate professional reports.
This PC is critical to prototyping a tool that’s effective, inclusive, and certifiable.
How the System Helps:
• Safe Space to Talk: A compassionate AI provides an outlet during difficult moments.
• Emotional Insights: Helps users understand their feelings and patterns through natural conversations.
• Background Assessments: Uses psychological tools to evaluate mental health discreetly, generating reports for professionals.
• Enhanced Therapy: Reports enable tailored treatment, easing professionals’ workload.
• For All: Supports anyone—parents, workers, and more—privately and securely.
Mental health professionals are stretched thin, with too few resources to meet demand. I’m crowdfunding to prototype a system that’s free for veterans and first responders, accessible to everyone, and medically certified to support professionals. Your donation will fund the PC to make this vision real.
Mental health professionals need help, and so do those waiting for care. Your donation will fund a prototype that eases their burden and ensures no one is left behind. Please contribute and share this campaign today.
