Impeach Obama Protester Sues Police
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Daniel Martins, and I was very involved in the "Overpasses for America" campaign to impeach President Obama on our nation's highways. On June 6th, 2014, I was displaying impeachment signs, flags and banners on a local overpass, and was unlawfully arrested and imprisoned by the Nassau County Police Department for exercising my first amendment right to free speech, petition and assembly. The police charged me with criminal nuisance, a misdemeanor in the state of New York, and disorderly conduct. I challenged the police's authority in court, and in December 2014, I was dismissed of all charges on the merits by a duly elected and sworn judge. I was burdened with legal expenses for my criminal defense, and was denied my federal and state civil rights. My council and I have filed a civil suit in the United States Federal Courts against Nassau County, the police department, and several active individual police officers for false arrest/imprisonment, assault, battery, vindictive and malicious prosecution, defamation of character, and denial of federal and state civil rights. My legal fees for the civil suit are on a contingency basis, but there are thousands of dollars in fees when processing a claim in the U.S. federal courts. The fees are listed below. Any amount you can donate to show support, and help out a bullied college student is much appreciated. Please share this fund raising campaign, and don’t forget that every dollar counts and goes a long way. Thank you all for your continued support!
Federal court fees:
1) Multiple filing fees
2) Multiple subpoena issuing fees
3) Multiple deposing fees
4) Multiple expert witness testimony fees
5) Multiple judicial fees
6) Proctor fees
7) Court liaison fees
8) Court reporter fees
9) And many, many more.
