Hello, my name is Villon Laude. I am the founder of the Committee for Development of Labaleine and was proudly born and raised there.
The committee's main objective is to make Labaleine one of the best places in Haiti to live in and visit. We need everyone's participation. All our sisters and brothers living in the diaspora and Labaleine. Also, all our friends from all over the world. Our current project is to raise $15,000 to buy the land surrounding the spring water source in Labaleine.
Labaleine's spring water is one of the best in Haiti. People used to die with yellow fever until a Priest named Clervil came and built a well which prevented yellow fever from spreading. All the land surrounding the well are privately owned property. Our goal is to purchase the land around the spring water source to prevent people from deforesting the area. I will personally go to Haiti to purchase the land and make it public property. With the money raised the land acquired will become public property in which no person has the right to deforest it. With the latest events of Hurricane Matthew, drinking water is not readily available in the south of Haiti. Without clean filtered water many people are contracting cholera and dying of this unfortunate illness. Water is a basic neccessity of life and should be available to those all over. With the completion of this project we would be securing and protecting the amazing resources we already have for future generations to come.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated!
