Umm Al Kheir Emergency Fund

On February 18th, for the third time in less than a year, Israeli military forces came and destroyed homes and buildings in Umm Al Kheir. They destroyed three buildings used by over 14 people.

On June 26th, 2024, the Israeli military demolished 11 homes and buildings. When the residents rebuilt, the army returned and demolished the new structures. This is in the background of intense financial hardship after October 7th, when almost all Palestinians working inside Israel lost their work permits, and restricted freedom of movement by the army made working for many all but impossible

Just a few weeks before the recent demolitions, the nearby settlement Carmel began preparing Umm Al Kheir land for an olive grove, effectively stealing the land. This is all part of a clear concerted effort to force the people of Umm Al Kheir to leave their land, ethnically cleansing them. All of these forms of violence have worsened the financial situation in the village, and community leaders are raising money to assist those who's homes were destroyed as well as cover legal fees to fight the settlement expansion.
