Protective helmet for Freyja

Hi, I’m Skye and I’m trying to raise funds to buy a medical protective helmet for my SEN daughter, Freyja.

Freyja is our 22 month old daughter who has been through so much in her short life so far, including two surgeries on her skull before her first birthday, for saggital craniosynostosis, which is unrelated. She is currently under the community paediatrician for a global developmental delay and suspected autism.

Freyja has developed an explosive temper that comes with extremely aggressive meltdowns that can last hours at a time. She’s a little girl with very big feelings!

However, these meltdown come with not only long periods of screaming and violent thrashing, but also very hard, repeated head banging, as well as punching herself repeatedly in the head.

We bought a rugby helmet from Amazon which was effective for a few days but now she keeps pulling it off, so we feel that getting a medical helmet that she can’t undo is a necessary next step.

We have received a reasonable quote for a basic model helmet from a London-based company for a medical protective helmet which is tailor made to measure in Germany.

Any funds raised above the goal will go towards upgrades to make the helmet for comfortable/effective and any remaining funds will be going to Great Ormomd Street Hospital, the hospital she has her previous surgeries at.
