As a volunteer fundraiser, I'm reaching out to support the legal appeal and public petition for Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the lawful wife of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

Despite being married under the Marriage Ordinance, a recent court ruling dismissed the validity of her marriage and concluded without sufficient clarity, that both partners involved only celebrated traditional marriages. This decision has placed her rights, dignity, and legal status in jeopardy. It has also raised alarming concerns about the consistent recognition of foreign civil marriages and the fair application of marriage laws in Ghana.

The ongoing matter concerning the marital status and legal recognition of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh (popularly known as Daddy Lumba) has revealed deeply troubling inconsistencies that raise significant concerns about due process, judicial oversight, and the protection of long-recognised marital rights under Ghanaian law.

Although an appeal is currently in progress to correct these irregularities, the gravity of the situation requires broader public awareness and institutional support.

Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the late musician’s rightful and legally wedded wife under the Marriage Ordinance, now faces an unsettling judicial outcome that appears to disregard essential statutory requirements.

Despite clear evidence of an Ordinance marriage, a ruling was issued concluding that both women involved had undergone only traditional marriages. Such an outcome does not merely represent a legal oversight; it risks setting a trend capable of weakening the very framework that protects legally married spouses in Ghana and abroad.

This situation has introduced emotional, social, and financial hardship for Mrs. Fosuh, who must now defend a marriage that was solemnized and recognized under the highest marriage regime in the country.

The case has become increasingly complex, and it has now be verified that two lawyers have stepped forward to assist in safeguarding her legal rights, ensuring that her long-standing marital status is not erased by judicial error or judicial haste.

This petition seeks to support her ongoing legal struggle by drawing attention to the broader consequences:

1. the erosion of rights guaranteed under the Marriage Ordinance,

2. the psychological stress placed on a lawful spouse already grieving,

3. and the insecure pattern of overlooking statutory marriage protections in favour of convenience.

Public advocacy and financial support are now essential to ensure a thorough legal review, full accountability, and the restoration of justice.

Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh deserves a process that is fair, transparent, and grounded in the rule of law.
