Canada Geese Protection Colorado (CGPC) was formed by concerned citizens from across the City and County of Denver after 1,662 geese were captured and slaughtered in Denver without public notice in 2019. In 2020, another 517 Canada geese were lethally rounded up. Our 18-month advocacy in front of municipal agencies resulted in the termination of the third year of the "kill" contract.
Beginning in 2021, CGPC, in partnership with city and community organizations, has sponsored community lake cleanups in the greater Denver area. Our work improves the vitality of the ecosystems we share with the Canada geese, avocets, pelicans, red-winged blackbirds, crows, cormorants, snowy plovers, egrets, muskrats, and many snail varieties. To date, our collective efforts have removed 40,000 gallons of trash, including mattresses, boom boxes, LED screens, and grocery carts from the waters.
We are classified as a non-profit entity in the state of Colorado and want to apply for 501(c)3 status. The fundraiser is dedicated to those efforts which will allow us to expand our work in the community. Thank you.
