- UPDATE - As everyone knows, especially those who are here to donate and who have donated already, the situation in Afghanistan is extremely critical. For the past week especially, women and girls in Afghanistan have been living in a climate of extreme insecurity and uncertainty and our partners on the ground are working day and night to respond and help get WHRDs (in the broadest interpretation of the role - women journalists, activists, media workers, politicians, etc.) to safety.
- The priority for WHRDs right now is safe and dignified evacuation, so our efforts and the funds that haven't already been used for other security measures before the Taliban's takeover of Kabul, will be focused on evacuations, moving people to safety, and any other security measures needed for protection. Thus, the purpose and recipients of these funds and this campaign remain the same - protection and security for WHRDs in Afghanistan - just the needs and response have had to shift with the situation, and they will continue to do so as things develop.
- We will continue to provide updates as we can and as necessary.
- We have so much gratitude to all those who have donated to this campaign. Your support has meant so much to the WHRDs we work with, and we truly want the gratitude to be felt and understood that your contributions have made a significant difference in the response work our partners have been able to do.
** All funds are sent directly to partners on the ground. WRN and others affiliated with this campaign are not keeping any of the funds raised - no salaries or admin fees or any costs except what Go Fund Me keeps for credit card processing fees. **
