Protect wild fish and their waters

Tax deductible
48.5 km Summer Solstice 20 Bridges night swim around Manhattan Island. 21st June 2024

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Wild Fish Conservation and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
WildFish is the only independent charity in the UK campaigning for wild fish and their environment. We do this by seeking to eliminate the threats they face in fresh and coastal waters. Our goal is sustainable populations of wild fish.

Myself, Laura Reineke, Henley Mermaid , Marketing & Fundraising manager at WildFish, along with

Lee Saudan, Director of Marketing, Isle of Wight Sanctuary, will be swimming in tandem around Manhattan Island. Both swimming the full distance, alongside each other.

Usual channel swimming rules apply, only wearing a swimming costume, hat, goggles & earplugs. Fed on a line with liquid feeds and the odd treat, swimming non-stop.

The 20 Bridges around Manhattan Island include (in order from Pier A start):

East River:

  • Brooklyn Bridge (1883/1,825 meters)
  • Manhattan Bridge (1909/2,089 meters)
  • Williamsburg Bridge (1903/2,227.48 meters)
  • Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge (1909/1,135 meters)

Harlem River:

  • Wards Island Bridge (1951/285.6 meters)
  • RFK Triborough Bridge (1936/230 meters)
  • Willis Avenue Bridge (1901/979 meters)
  • Third Avenue Bridge (1898/853.44 meters)
  • Park Avenue Bridge (1954/100 meters)
  • Madison Avenue Bridge (1910/577 meters)
  • 145th Street Bridge (1905/489 meters)
  • Macombs Dam Bridge (1895/774 meters)
  • High Bridge (1848/600 meters)
  • Alexander Hamilton Bridge (1963/724 meters)
  • Washington Bridge (1888/723.9 meters)
  • University Heights Bridge (1908/82 meters)
  • Broadway Bridge (1962/170.08 meters)
  • Henry Hudson Bridge (1936/673 meters)
  • Spuyten Duyvil Bridge (1899/186 meters)

Hudson River:

  • George Washington Bridge (1931/1,450.85 meters)

This swim is part of a triple crown of swims (completed by only 331 people) which include English Channel (Which Lee completed in 2022, and Laura in 2023), and Catalina Channel in California.

"We are excited to be attempting this iconic swim, Lee & I swim exactly the same speed, we are best of friends, and train together. We are both passionate about not only swimming, but conservation, wildlife and our waterways so raising money for such a fantastic, independent charity can only add to the experience.. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for all your support, and hope you enjoy tracking us on June 21st!"
