Protect Wild Cats for Earth Day — Panthera Wild at Heart

Tax deductible
Earth Day is April 22. To celebrate, make a donation to help us protect wild cats and their habitats during our Wild at Heart campaign, running April 1-22.

As top predators, wild cats help maintain nature’s balance by regulating prey populations, preventing overgrazing, and keeping food chains in check — all of which protect habitats from degradation. They also serve as indicators of healthy forests that store carbon, making them key allies in the fight against climate change. Their presence is a powerful reminder of the deep connections within our natural world and the urgent need to protect these landscapes for generations to come.

Your support will help us reach our key conservation goals including:

  • Stabilizing and growing leopard populations across 20% percent of their range by 2034 by expanding our Furs for Life program, establishing anti-poaching teams and equipping rangers with cutting edge technology, conducting monitoring projects, and supporting the eventual reintroduction of the Arabian leopard in Saudi Arabia.
  • Securing or reestablishing a minimum of eight lion populations by 2030. In Africa, we’re working on four lion recovery projects that combine policy and cutting-edge science.
  • Increasing tiger numbers by at least 50% in key sites in the next decade. We’re tackling threats to tigers head-on by training rangers, collaborating with governments to connect and protect the places tigers live, strengthening global anti-trafficking efforts, and promoting sustainable livelihoods to help protect tiger habitat.
  • Expanding the puma’s range by 1,167,856 square kilometers (450,912 square miles) by 2030. We’re accomplishing this goal through conflict mitigation, helping protect cougar habitat and supporting policies that help mitigate other threats.
  • Developing tailored conservation strategies for the world’s most threatened small cats by uncovering their unique ecological needs and addressing the most pressing threats. By the end of 2028, we aim to prevent 18 species of Threatened and Near-Threatened small cats from slipping closer to Extinction.
  • Partnering with key jaguar conservation organizations to form the Jaguar 2030 Roadmap, a groundbreaking partnership dedicated to protecting 30 priority jaguar landscapes by 2030.
