Ever heard of PINK RIVER DOLPHINS!!
Mya Stanberry and Amelia Burns here to share that we want your help and support for the Amazon Pink River Dolphins (aka Botos). We attend Eckerd College and as our first study abroad we got to have this life changing experience in the Amazonas Brazil, partnering with the Amazon River Dolphin Conservation Foundation (ARDCF)! Their mission is to make a difference and "To conserve the Amazon river dolphin and its environment through research, education and collaboration." The Amazon River Dolphins are charismatic creatures that are endangered and are important to the small riverside communities.
Since ARDCF is a non-profit they depend on donations to help with:
- Research (ex. tracking)
- Educating visitors and locals with workshops and discussions
- Creating and taking action with animal care guidelines
And of course allowing students like us to learn and interact with these amazing animals and the Amazon's ecosystem, as well as the communities that live there.
This foundation relies on the people who care, just as much as the dolphins we are trying to save and preserve their habitat. All proceeds will go straight to the foundation!! As we try and raise as much money for them!
FUN FACT: When they are excited they can blush to a brighter pink, like humans!
