I’m writing this because my friend Ralph is in an extremely dangerous situation, and there is an innocent baby at the center of it all. This isn’t normal custody drama — this is a situation that could become life-threatening if Ralph cannot act fast.

Ralph is a devoted single father who has always shown up for his son. But during a recent custody exchange at Checkers, something happened that no parent should ever have to live through.

After Ralph handed over his son, the child’s mother took the baby and immediately drove off. Ralph was still sitting in his car, about to leave, when her boyfriend — a man with a long history of violent crime and serious charges — ran up to Ralph’s vehicle and punched him through the open car window.

Ralph was blindsided. He wasn’t arguing, he wasn’t provoking anything — he was literally sitting in his car as the mother drove away.

And the part that chills all of us the most?

The entire attack was captured on the restaurant’s security cameras.

There is no question about what happened.

No debate. No excuses.

Because of the security footage, the boyfriend was arrested — but he will not be in jail forever. And that is what terrifies us.

If this man is willing to attack Ralph publicly, in broad daylight, on camera, in the middle of a custody exchange… what is happening inside the home where this baby is living? What could happen when there are no witnesses, no cameras, and no one to protect him?
