We followed the law. The agencies chose not to. Now the public has to enforce it.
For months, residents and advocates documented serious concerns about Project Ranger and the Paseo del Volcan corridor — including risks to groundwater, air quality, and public health.
We submitted records requests, provided evidence, and formally notified state and federal agencies responsible for environmental review and oversight. We even asked the NM legislature by sending postcards, for help to pulled funding with a door to door knock campaign with fliers.
We were met with silence and dismissal.
Those federal and state agencies were given time to respond. They did not.
Silence after notice is not neutral. In practice, it allows projects to move forward without accountability, even when environmental review is incomplete and public funds have already been committed. When agencies fail to act, the law provides another path: citizen enforcement through the courts.
The Stop Project Ranger Legal Defense Fund exists to support that next lawful step.
Funds raised will be used for:
Federal litigation to enforce environmental and public-health laws
Expert review of groundwater contamination risks, hazardous materials handling, and project segmentation
Legal filings under the Administrative Procedure Act and related statutes where agencies failed to act
This fundraiser is not about awareness — the record is already complete. It is about accountability.
If you believe clean water, public health, and the rule of law matter, this is a moment where public support makes a real difference.
