SUPPORT OUR FARM WORKERS - Help us get 5000 masks!

Each dollar you donate provides one KN95 mask to a farm worker in need. Our goal is to raise $5000 for 5000 KN95 masks and hopefully more! There are 500,000-800,000 farmworkers in California alone. Let this be just the beginning.

We are hoping to raise $5000 by the end of September 2020 to get these much needed items to farm workers as soon as possible.

Our farm workers are in URGENT need.

Please join us in raising funds and awareness for our farmworkers who are out to work despite:
-pandemic
-heat
-harmful pesticides
-FIRES!

Most are afraid to speak up about unsafe working conditions because they fear retaliation, or worse, deportation.

Farm workers perform strenuous tasks and are exposed to a
wide variety of occupational risks and hazards. Low socioeconomic
status and poor access to health care also contribute to existing
health problems in this population. Potential farm work-related
health problems include accidents, pesticide-related illnesses,
musculoskeletal and soft-tissue disorders, dermatitis, noninfectious
respiratory conditions, reproductive health problems, health
problems of children of farm workers, climate-caused illnesses,
communicable diseases, bladder and kidney disorders, and
eye and ear problems. (Mobed et al. 1992)

This is not an isolated issue, there are many socioeconomic layers that contribute to the inequities that farm workers face. But in the immediate realm, we want to get them much needed masks.

About:

My name is Wendy, I am based in Los Angeles. I'm an MA Candidate in Anthropology with a specialty in Maya archaeology. I got into anthropology to help provide a voice for underserved communities. I've done archaeological work in Mexico, Belize, and the Philippines. I began working with undocumented youth over 20 years ago.  Three years ago, I developed a five-week workshop called the Student Success Series which is geared toward helping first-generation college students apply for scholarships, grants, and graduate school.

I'm currently working with Dreamer's Roadmap, a non-profit based in Palo Alto, CA, which is dedicated to helping undocumented students achieve their dreams of attending college. I will be delivering the masks directly to them, which they will include in their weekly distribution of school supplies and masks for farm workers in California.
