Fundraising Goal: $150,000
Our Story
Hi, I can’t tell you my name or anything about myself or my children but our need is incredibly real and urgent.
I'm raising funds to cover legal costs in an ongoing Federal Circuit and Family Court case to protect my two primary school children with special needs from continued psychological abuse and neglect.
Due to Australian family law restrictions (Section 121 of the Family Law Act), I cannot provide identifying details about our case or the parties involved. Sharing such information carries penalties of up to one year imprisonment, which also prevents public awareness of the serious situation these children face.
Unimaginably Slipping Through the Cracks
Our circumstance defies imagination – even I struggle to believe the deconstruction of our lives and the risk to the children. I’m in disbelief that we are slipping through the cracks between family law, policing and child safety. Clinicians and therapists can see what is happening to the children but are risk averse. Numerous mental health professionals and personal contacts of the other party have told me that the children and I are at risk of physical attack. Coercive control experts have advised that it appears the intent is to ‘procure’ my suicide. Lawyers tell me the other party’s goal is simply to win, regardless of the damage inflicted on the children.
The Children's Situation
Both children are primary school aged with special needs. Multiple psychological and family violence professionals have identified this as a coercive control situation involving narcissistic, psychological and systems abuse.
The other parent:
• Showed minimal interest in the children except to force issues that caused them severe anxiety and self-harm
• Displayed neglectful behaviour towards the children
• Despite earning a very high salary, advised they wanted more time with children to reduce child support
• Physically handled the children roughly and violently despite their disabilities
• Puts the children at risk through medical meddling, obstruction and lies
• Used expensive legal representation and false information to obtain court orders causing the children trauma
• Has a psychiatric assessment documenting narcissistic behaviour
• Has been charged with and found guilty of breaching a family violence intervention order
• Has abused multiple partners, with a previous partner running away to escape
Professional Assessments
• Multiple psychological and experienced family violence professionals have confirmed this is a coercive control situation
• Formal behavioural analyses indicate risk of physical harm to the children and myself.
• Mental health professionals have advised the children's lives are at risk
Current Legal Status
This case is actively before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. The other parent has refused all mediation attempts and is forcing the matter to full trial. The court has noted the family violence allegations, but has a high threshold for psychological abuse and narcissistic abuse.
Why Your Help is Needed
Trial costs: $150,000
This breaks down to:
• Barrister representation for trial
• Expert witness fees for further psychological assessments
• Court preparation and documentation
• Additional legal costs for complex family violence matters
I am self-represented to keep costs manageable, but expert legal representation and advice is essential for trial to protect the children effectively. I have already spent $300,000+ to protect the children.
Additional costs have been incurred due to incompetent advice from my initial lawyers, which introduced serious risk to the children's safety. These errors required extensive corrective legal work to address the dangerous situation their advice created. I cannot seek recompense for this professional negligence until after the final trial is completed.
My Commitment to Donors
If I am awarded legal costs by the court, I will repay donations proportionally.
For example:
• If I recover 50% of final trial legal costs → I will return 50% of your donation
• If I recover 75% of final trial legal costs → I will return 75% of your donation
This is not just about my family - this case may set important precedents about protecting children from psychological abuse and coercive control in family law proceedings.
Why This Matters
Coercive control in family law is still developing legally. This case could establish crucial precedents for protecting children from psychological abuse by parents with narcissistic traits. The children's safety and wellbeing are at immediate risk, and only a full trial can provide the protection they desperately need.
Police are largely powerless to act due to their focus on reacting to physical violence and emerging nature of the laws about coercive control, leaving the family court as the avenue for protection.
Due to their medical condition, the children's voices are not listened to. I have witnessed the children tell multiple doctors, educators and therapists that they are scared of the other parent and begged them for protection from the other parent, only to be dismissed due to their medical condition and age.
I work in not-for-profit advocacy. Once my children's safety is assured, I intend to apply my skillset to advocating for systems change and education to protect children from similar forms of abuse.
Updates and Transparency
I will provide regular updates on case progress within legal constraints. All funds will be used exclusively for legal costs, and I will provide documentation of expenses to donors upon request.
How You Can Help
Every donation brings me closer to ensuring these children's safety and wellbeing. Whether $10 or $1000, your contribution helps level the playing field against well-funded opposition and gives these vulnerable children a voice in court.
Please share this campaign - raising awareness about coercive control and children's protection in family law helps other families facing similar situations.
