Narcan is a drug currently used to reverse the effects of opioids for people, and it also works on dogs. It can be used immediately after exposure to lessen the effects until the dog can receive emergency veterinary care.
With the funds donated, the KCMO Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will purchase Narcan kits for the Kansas City Police Department's Canine and Drug Enforcement Units so officers and their K-9 partners are protected.
The Kansas City, Missouri Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (KCMO CPAAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Kansas City (Missouri) Police Department and its community policing programs. It is organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes under IRS code and is funded solely through member dues and donations. It receives no funding from the Kansas City Police Department.
