Protect Julie Ray's Home from Dangerous Drivers

*UPDATE!*
I've raised enough money to make the repairs. Preventative measures with local governments are ongoing. Thank you so much! I am so grateful to members of our community who helped in every way from donations to words of support—Thank you!!!

My name is Julie Ray. On February 23, 2025, a driver was going at a high rate of speed and lost control of his car. He careened into my backyard, plowing through four concrete bollards and took out a section of my fence.

I moved into my home in 2002. About every six months, someone flies off the road and damages my property. I finally saved up enough money to place concrete bollards after a previous accident on September 7, 2024, when a driver plowed into my home after crashing through the fence and took out my HVAC unit, shoving it under my crawlspace.

The damage to my property has continually escalated since 2002 as barriers like trees were systematically taken out by every crash. Most drivers damage my property and just drive away, leaving me with the financial burden. Those with police reports—the worst accidents—do not have a driver's license, current tags, or insurance. Again, leaving me with the financial burden of the repairs. As a consequence, I must file with my homeowner's insurance—again. I am terrified of being canceled. I am doing everything I can, including petitioning the city, county, state, and any entity who will listen—how dangerous the section of road is by my home. Several people have been killed in accidents, many more injured, and other properties around me have been damaged, just not with the frequency of my home. I cannot afford to move, I cannot afford to replace the concrete bollards. These accidents have financially devastated me. I have rescued animals since I moved into my home and they cannot even go out in the yard any longer. I'm terrified to go into my yard.

I'm stuck. I need help repairing my fence and replacing the concrete bollards while simultaneously petitioning the powers that be for some sort of safety measures to not only protect me and my property but others from being hurt, killed, or having property damage along this stretch of Danny Thomas between Looney Avenue and Uptown Street.

Any amount will help. Thank you!
