Stop the Amazon and NIPSCO AI Takeover in Jasper County, Indiana! Please consider donating to our community-led legal fund. We need your help to raise $10,000 in the next few weeks.

We're facing an onslaught of AI data center development. This AI invasion threatens to drain our water, take our farmland, and harm the future of our community for generations to come. We are still fighting, but we need your help!

Here is why your support today is so critical:
The NIPSCO R.M. Schahfer Generating Station coal plant is being forced to remain open by the federal administration despite its scheduled retirement in late 2025, with the Department of Energy citing energy demand from AI data centers as the driving rationale. Despite its coal units still being non-operational, this order is costing Indiana ratepayers an estimated $174,000 every day. To add insult to injury, coal ash waste from the plant is already contaminating our groundwater with cancer-causing contaminants.
Amazon is currently constructing a 13-building data center totaling 321 acres down the street from NIPSCO’s coal plant. This data center will be lined with 384 dirty diesel backup generators, which emit toxins that harm workers, children, seniors, and anyone with asthma or heart conditions. Earthmoving at the site has begun, causing traffic and dust concerns for nearby residents.
Next to this data center is a proposed NIPSCO 2,600-megawatt gas plant, largely under contract to power Amazon's data centers in the service territory of Wheatfield and Hobart. It will operate with OPTIONAL pollution controls, consume 16 million gallons of water per day from the overburdened Kankakee River, and emit 7 million tons of CO₂ annually, making it one of the state's worst polluters.

Here’s the truth they don’t want you to hear: these projects have barely begun, and they are not operational yet. Therefore, this is NOT a done deal, and we can still make a difference!

We've fought this corporate takeover from the very beginning. Now, we're ready to take legal action and try to stop this data center in its tracks by setting a fundraising goal of $10k to kickstart our legal retainer that will include:
Hiring land-use counsel to press the County on whether this project has followed — and still must follow — the rules that govern how industrial land can actually be used
Investigating violations of local, state, and federal law
Demanding steadfast enforcement of permits, land-use decisions, and public process
Keeping neighbors informed so more people can show up and speak for themselves

This is where your support comes in! Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps us advocate for accountability, safety, and the rural integrity of our community. Even if you’re not a local resident, this issue affects you too. We believe that every community and every Hoosier deserves a safe, healthy future, and you can help us achieve that! Please donate today and spread the word to help us save Jasper County, Indiana. Thank you!
