Protect Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church as well as St. Joseph’s Church in Waterbury, the two remaining Lithuanian churches in Connecticut, are under threat of closure and possibly will be sold by the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Archdiocese of Hartford has communicated with Holy Trinity parishioners that they are open for us to work with them to create Holy Trinity Church into a Lithuanian cultural center at the Lithuanian community’s expense.

It is of utmost importance that the community retain a Canon attorney to ensure that all proper church law is followed to protect the building and advocate for the needs of the parishioners. The retainer for a Canon attorney is a one-time nonrefundable fee of $5000. Once the Canon attorney is retained, we will be able to move forward with the Archdiocese of Hartford. If no Canon attorney is retained, there is a great risk that Holy Trinity Church will be lost forever. The Waterbury Lithuanian community has already retained a Canon attorney and has been successful in so far preventing the complete closure of St. Joseph’s Church.
