In less than two years, America will mark a milestone no other nation can claim: 200 years of the Black Press. Since 1827 — decades before slavery ended — our newspapers have told the truth about Black life when no one else would.
That legacy is now in jeopardy. Federal advertising has been cut off. Corporate partners are retreating. The result: iconic papers like the Chicago Defender, Los Angeles Sentinel, New York Amsterdam News, and EBONY are fighting for survival.
If the Black Press disappears, so does our ability to guard our history and control our narrative.
We are asking for your support today:
Advertising, sponsorships, or a tax-deductible donation that keep our 200+ outlets alive.
This is not charity. It is an investment in preserving America’s full story.
