Hello everyone,

Our family—Irma Soto, Miguel Ramos, Vanessa Torres, and myself, Ananissa Diaz—has started this GoFundMe to help cover the financial costs associated with obtaining a prosthetic leg for our cousin Alicia Penas husband, Cliff Pena.

Cliff had battled Stage 4 osteomyelitis since December 2024. He underwent two surgeries in hopes of saving his leg; unfortunately, due to the spread of infection, his leg had to be amputated on April 18, 2025.

Cliff is now scheduled for a prosthetic fitting. However, insurance does not cover the full cost. The prosthetic requires either half of the payment upfront or the full amount of $3,800 by February 23, 2025. In addition to this expense, Cliff will have multiple medical appointments and travel costs, which is why we set our fundraising goal slightly higher.

Alicia works tirelessly—holding both a full-time and part-time job—while also providing Cliff with full-time medical and emotional support. She has been employed full-time at ACME for nearly 20 years. After completing her shifts there, she works part-time at La Bahia Restaurant in Goliad, TX, where locals affectionately know her as “Lisa.” She is highly requested by customers for her compassion, dedication, and genuine care for everyone she serves.

We created this GoFundMe because Alicia works incredibly hard, and sometimes life presents unforeseen challenges that make it difficult to manage everything alone. We are asking our community to come together and help Cliff receive the prosthetic he needs to regain mobility and independence.

Cliff is truly deserving of this support. He worked as an electrician and in safety for over eight years before his battle with osteomyelitis began. On weekends, he loved hosting family and friends and showcasing his culinary skills. His passions include hunting, fishing, and living off the land. Despite everything he has faced, Cliff continues to help around the house, cook, complete chores, and stay as active as possible.

Cliff Pena is a powerful example of perseverance. He has always been willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers. Now, we ask for your help in supporting Cliff and Alicia during this challenging time.
