Prosthetic Leg for Susan Cullum - help me walk!

Donation protected
On June 10th, 2020- I was diagnosed with a tumour in my femur which turned out to be a high-grade Chondrosarcoma. On June 14th, I fell getting out of the shower and my leg broke necessitating an ambulance taking me to Foothills hospital in Calgary where on June 17th, I had surgery to have an external fixator put on my leg to stabilize the situation and have a biopsy taken.  Once the pathology report came back - to save my life by preventing further spread, the only option presented to me was to amputate my leg entirely.  On July 6th, a right hip disarticulation was performed and I spent until July 22nd at Foothills, recovering from surgery, learning how to get out of bed, get to the washroom with a walker and navigate life in a wheelchair.  Many of you have prayed and continue to and I can honestly say, without these prayers and my faith in God, I would not have sailed through things the way I feel I have.  It has also been wonderful to be supported by a community during this time that sent baking, meals, etc.  Since getting home, I have learned to do many things in different ways and my patience has definitely grown.  I am determined to live life as 'normally' as possible and getting a prosthesis will help me to do that.  Technology has come a tremendously long way in the last 20 years and I should be able to walk quite well with a 'new leg'.  The leg that will allow me to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain comes at a high price tag partly because I need a hip, knee and ankle joint.  The initial estimate is $60,792.79.  The Alberta gov't will cover about $10,000 of this cost, so that leaves a lot to come up with.  My husband took 5 weeks off work in June/July so that he could be at the hospital with me as my visitors were limited to himself accompanied by one of my children (Ages 19,17,15 & 11).
A hip disarticulation/Ottobock specialist from Ontario will work with my prosthetist from AB Prosthetics on Oct 14/15 to begin the process of creating a 'leg' for me.  I am excited to get underway with this process and would ask that you consider helping to fund this. My goal is to have a leg by Christmas and be walking some with it. My understanding is that it will take a lot of training and therapy to learn to walk again with a prosthetic but I believe I am up to the challenge.
