Support for Mike as I Face Eye Removal Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mike or a lot of you know me as Oneeye. In 1996, I experienced a freak accident at a bar when a friend’s thumb accidentally went knuckle-deep into my left eye. This injury set off a chain of events that led to the gradual loss of my eyesight.
Over the past several years, I’ve undergone 19 surgeries—cataract surgery, scar tissue scraping, a retina buckle, and multiple other procedures to try to save my eye. Despite all the efforts, I’ve continued to experience discomfort, including itching, pressure, pain, and calcifications in my eye. After years of struggling, I’ve finally made the decision to move forward with my 20th and final surgery: the removal of my left eye.
This surgery is necessary to relieve the constant pain and pressure, and it will bring closure to a long, challenging journey. However, this final step also marks the beginning of a new chapter in adjusting to life after the loss of my eye. To help me with that transition, I need to cover the cost of a prosthetic eye, which will be custom-made to fit and help me regain a sense of normalcy and confidence.
While I am relieved to be addressing this issue once and for all, some of my customers have suggested I set up this GoFundMe page to help pay for the prosthetic and eventually a “fun” eye. Your support will go directly toward covering the expense of the prosthetic eye, as well as any related follow-up care to ensure it fits properly and helps me move forward with my life.
Why I'm Asking for Help:
A number of my awesome customers suggested that I set up this page, as prosthetic eyes can be quite expensive—even with assistance from government programs and health insurance.
I’m hoping to raise funds specifically to cover the cost of a prosthetic eye. In the future, my goal is to get a “fun” eye—something that lets me have a bit of fun with my prosthetics and keep my fun-loving spirit alive. I want to continue being the "Oneeye" that so many of you know and love.
How You Can Help:
Donate: Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward a prosthetic eye.
Share: If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help.
Words of Encouragement: Your kind words and support mean just as much as a donation.
What This Means to Me:
This surgery isn’t just about physical healing – it’s also about finding closure on a long and difficult journey. It will allow me to finally move forward and improve my quality of life, knowing that I’ve done what I can to ensure my health is taken care of.
I’m incredibly grateful for any support you can offer, whether through donations, sharing this page, or sending words of encouragement. Thank you for being part of this next chapter in my life.
Much love and gratitude,
Mike.
