I am creating this account of behalf of my brother, Julio, who is asking for help to purchase a prosthetic leg. In November of 2021 Julio was hit by a drunk driver while working. While lucky to come away from the accident with his life, this lead to most of his leg needing to be amputated. He is an incredibly optimistic man, and often talks about how fortunate he feels to only have lost his leg. At the same time he is also struggling to make ends meet for his family. In Nicaragua, where we are from, the laws aren't the same as here in the US. Once the court case is settled Julio will receive a small severance payout from his job, and then he is on his own. This severance will not be enough to buy a quality prosthesis, which would enable him to get back to providing for his family, as well as participating in some of the hobbies he used to enjoy before the accident.

Julio is a great father to his two children, Anthony and Marcela, and prior to losing his leg he would often take them to the local field to play. His favorite sports were soccer and baseball, and he was even on a couple of local award-winning teams.
