Promotion of a young musician

Dear MGC member,

As you no doubt know, one of the stated purposes of MGConcerts asbl is to promote young musicians. This may involve helping them to find engagements as a musician, put out a CD and support them with their domestic arrangements in Belgium. As you can imagine we frequently have requests for such support so we are very demanding when it comes to deciding who would be eligible for support. We have recently come across a case where a convince MGC should do all i can to support a young pianist. We now find ourself with a case which we sincerely believe has real merits.

Tailin Donkers, a Belgian pianist started his career at the tender age of 10. He was a student of François Lefèvre and of Jean-Claude Vanden.

His talents led him to success in many competitions: Concours Steinway (3rd. place) , competitions of Liège,Cantabile.,Breughel and Charlier

From the age of 15 Tailin formed part of Musica Mundi School where he worked under Hagit Hassid Kerbel and Jacques Rouvier. Dedicated and talented he has participated in master classes with Vincenzo Balzani, Michel Beroff, Olivier Gardon, Pascal Godart, Diane Andersen, Giuseppe Andaloro and Hans-Peter Stenzl.

Tailin's economic circumstances put the realisation of his talents and the joy he would give his public at risk. He is in his third year at the Conservatory in Brussels but unless he finds an urgent solution to his economic problems he faces having to abandon the (20?) years he has invested in music. Figures do not lie and T figures are indeed distressing. Currently he lives with his parents in Fleurus, an impossible 2/1 hours from the conservatory. He has the possibility to rent a room in Rhode-Saint Genese - much easier access to the conservatory. However the €350 rent (negotiated down from 600), the monthly rental of his piano (€164) and a modest living allowance are beyond his means.

MG Concerts believes that Tailin's case has merits and has decided to try and help him, initially by seeking support from the MGC members. If you feel that you would like to contribute, even a modest sum, please do so through this crowdfunding campaign. We will keep you informed as to the state of fundraising and, of course, progress in Tailin's career!
