Project Warmth provides hats, gloves and scarves to disadvantaged children during the holiday season, particularly during the afternoon of New Years Eve.
In addition to randomly distributing the items throughout the city in impoverished neighborhoods on New Years Eve, on Sunday, December 27, 2015, a team of volunteers will also visit a family shelter and provide entertainment and lunch for the children preceeding accessory distribution.
Any funds raised on this site would be used for the purchase of hats, gloves and scarves. Any excess funds will go towards the event, providing pizza, cupcakes, soda, and depending on donations, a toy for each child at the family shelter, in addition to the warm accessories
Although we are experiencing unseasonably warm weather now, "Ole Man Winter" is sure to arrive. Our goal is to provide as many children as we can, who cannot afford them with warm accessories. The goal is to be able to distribute at least 150 sets of outerwear this year and entertain up to 60 children.
Growing up as a disadvantaged child, I remember what it was like to not have enough basic warm articles of clothing during brutal winter weather. I also remember what it was like to be less fortunate during holidays. Hopefully through these efforts, we will be able to help make every child we encounter a little bit happier during the holidays.
I would like to have all contributions by no later than Wednesday , December 16th.
Your generosity could not be appreciated more. All donors will be listed on a follow-up newsletter to be posted after the event.
Anyone interested in either volunteering at the shelter on Saturday, December 19th or distributing items in neighborhoods on Thusday afternoon, December 31, should contact me personally.
