#ProjectHope - Nobody left behind

As the year 2020 began there were many people still unable to physically enjoy the arts & culture sector; poverty, single-parenthood, disability, chronic illness, mental health issues and neuro-divergence, are just some of the reasons people felt isolated at home and unable to attend or take part in events.
Then the Covid-19 health crisis hit.
During the health crisis, everybody has experienced what it feels like to suddenly be unable to leave their home at their own leisure. Many have learned what it feels like, for the first time, to lose their independence and to be dependent on others. We have, as a result, learned how to be versatile in communication and I believe that it is imperative that we don't lose that shared empathy when all this is over.
The project is very much in the research and development phase. To launch the project and begin to raise awareness, the #ProjectHope 'Words2020' video competition was born. People from all walks of life uploaded a 2 minute spoken word video to YouTube. Four guest artists were tasked with choosing their favourite videos. The results will be announced on Thursday 2nd July 2020 on 'Word Spoken' my spoken word social media channels from 7 pm. Big thanks to Bradford Council for awarding me a Coronavirus Response Grant to fund the competition. The grant has assisted me in purchasing software, hardware and to pay established artists but a hefty chunk of the cost was paid out of my pocket and many hours were invested in this for free because it is something I am passionate about.
The potential for #ProjectHope to deliver spoken word and other events to people in their own homes is huge but must start small and build. That is where I need your help.
I believe that artists should be paid for their work just like everyone else. Particularly those who are disadvantaged in some way and may have lower incomes. Some of the funding raised will go towards subscriptions and software or hardware and some will pay artists fees and other costs but EVERY PENNY will go towards making #ProjectHope happen and subsequently bringing the arts and culture world to people in their own homes.
