"Give a [girl] a fish, feed her for a day; Teach a [girl] to fish, feed her for a lifetime.
Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie
PGT (Project Girls in Technology) is a non-profit program dedicated to empowering girls from low-income areas and villages in 3rd world countries with opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The program acts to bridge the disparity in education for talented young girls and provide the basic foundations to pursue higher education and careers in software engineering and technology.
Traditionally, girls from these regions are discouraged from pursuing further education, relegating them to the poverty cycle of prior generations. For the few to whom education is available, provincial schools are ill-equipped to provide education in the sciences. PGT will bring current teaching methodology combined with qualified teachers into these villages. Girls will also receive support with college search programs and letters of recommendation, training in resume writing and integration into school systems. They will also establish a life-long support network of peers and mentors.
While our goals are lofty, they're achievable with your assistance. As a grassroots organization, every dime counts and not a penny is wasted on bureaucracy or overhead. 100% of your donation goes directly to supplies and basic expenses for our teachers. This summer, PGT has plans to establish classrooms in India, South Korea, and Chile.
Even the smallest donations can help give these girls a chance to take initiative of their lives. Please, teach a girl to fish. Join us in helping build a brighter future for girls with your support.
