Project Downtown - DC Chapter
Project Downtown DC is a student-run community service organization that aims to provide necessitous services to the homeless and disadvantaged segments of the Washington Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to the physical, intellectual, and emotional empowerment of the regional homeless population in order to achieve social objectives that are both sustainable and beneficial. Working with a multitude of secondary school and university students, we strive to provide compassionate, humanitarian services to those in desperate need and make conscious efforts to communicate and connect with them at a personal level.
A new project we aim to start is encouraging a healthy diet, which many of the needy are lacking, by including fruits and vegetables to our bagged lunches. We also plan to hand out sanitary kits and hold routine clothing drives to further accommodate those who are in need. These projects we hope to launch in coming Project Downtown events, are inspired by suggestions given by those who are in need and can, however, be more costly than our previous expenses. The cost of holding one Project Downtown can range from $300-$500. In order to host Project Downtown monthly and broaden our goals, we would appreciate your help by making contributions of any amount to our cause, or even by donating supplies.
