Blake Lieders passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2012 in a drowning accident at only 16 years old.  In addition to Blake’s love for art and his amazing creativity,he also loved skateboarding.  Blake spent many hours at Adelaide Skatepark in Fond du Lac, WI.  There were many improvements he wanted to see there….and to honor him, with your help, we are going to make it happen. One of these improvements will be the installation of benches in memory of Blake for park attendees to enjoy. The benches will be created from a custom designed skateboard which Blake’s uncle designed using a photo of Blake and a logo Blake created.  Interior Systems Inc. has done an amazing job incorporating Blake’s skateboard into the bench design.  The company will donate one custom bench for every $500 raised; our goal is to raise $2500. This money will go towards Project Blake, an art outreach program.  Besides mentoring teens and young adults, Project Blake runs two Open Art Studio sessions per week: one is held inside the Fond du Lac County Juvenile Detention Center and the other at Marian University.  For more information about Project Blake visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/ ProjectBlakeOpenArtStudio.   Any additional money raised above and beyond the $2500, will be used for any installation expenses needed for the benches and for other skatepark uplifts.  One of the benches will be installed next to a tree that will be planted in memory of Blake as a small memorial.  Blake was cremated and his ashes remain with his family.  Some of his ashes will be used within his memorial.  It will be a place for Blake’s friends and family to reflect and remember a great and amazing soul.
