Project Save Kali: Help Fund Her Emergency Surgery

Hey, everyone. 2025 was a tough year. In February I broke my wrist, 5 days after my surgery to fix it (3 inch plate and 8 screws), we had to send our pittie Mojo over the Rainbow Bridge.

Right around the holidays, my family and friends suggested my daughter and I consider adopting another dog. Took some convincing, but we talked it over. We decided that we felt ready, so off we went to the Anti Cruelty Society.

We went there looking at a specific dog, but we just didn’t feel the connection. We met several other dogs and none of them felt right. Both of us were feeling discouraged, but then Kali was brought back in to the kennels. Kali, named after the Hindu goddess of Destruction and Rebirth, was the one, we knew pretty much right away. Funnily enough, her name became somewhat of a self fulfilling prophecy, as she loves to tear apart toys, gnaw on furniture, and any paper she can get her paws on.

Kali has been with for about 4 months now and we love her (even though she’s destroyed multiple pairs of our shoes, despite us trying to put them out of reach).

Late last night, she started throwing up and wouldn’t stop. My daughter drove her to our vet this morning, where they took x-rays. Our vet was concerned about what she saw, so she sent us to the emergency vet near us. They quoted us around $10-15,000 to perform the surgery needed to remove the bowel obstruction inside Kali.

After some research with the help of both vets, we drove an hour and a half to a smaller vet who would do the surgery for between $4-7,000. It can’t be put off because she would probably die in the next day or so.

We love her more than anything, so needless to say, we are doing everything we can to get her the surgery, but money is tight. We paid the down payment of $2400 with several credit cards.

We need were between $950 (on the low end) to $5,000 (depending on what they discover) to pay for the rest of the procedure.

We would really appreciate your kindness and generosity.

Catherine, Hannah, and Kali
