Project Run 2020
My name is Ellis Warren and this year I am launching Project Run with the hope of achieving two goals:
1: I want to raise as much money and awareness for Mind as possible.
2: I want to promote to the world the countless benefits of running.
I will be running 5 marathons over 2 months in memory of my late dad and my friend Abdullah.
When I was in my first year of university, I struggled with depression and wondered whether I could last the four years feeling low and isolated. It was when I started running that everything changed. Every day I felt healthier, happier, and so much more motivated. Later that year I completed my first ever marathon.
But the thing is, I was never a natural runner. I used to get subbed off from my Sunday league football matches after only 5 minutes as I used to get out of breath so quick!
The thing about running is it can have a profound and positive impact on anyone. So if an ordinary bloke like me can give it a go and reap so many benefits, then I want as many people as possible to try so they too can experience the runner's high.
5 marathons in 2 months will be tough, especially seeing as this year I'm completing my final year at university- but with hard work and tenacity, ordinary runners really can run the extraordinary.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Mind (NAMH) and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Mind (NAMH): We are Mind, the mental health charity. We are here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support.
