Already crushed under thousands of dollars in hospital bills, an under insured motorist crashed into 5 parked cars including our own. CA law only requires they have 5,000 of property damage coverage which will be split between ALL the cars she damaged
Our car has significant damage beyond cosmetic that prevents 2 of the doors from opening (including the back hatch) and the start system from working properly and causes the heater to run the entire time the car is running.
Initial estimates to repair the damage will be over 6 thousand dollars. The vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty and VERY reliable so it is worth fixing. In fact, we cant afford not to fix it. If we lose this vehicle we will not be able to afford to replace it. Before people ask, no, suing is not an option. No lawyer will touch the case if there isn't insurance money to collect. We will already be getting a tiny payout that represents the maximum their insurance is required to pay. This means there is nothing to sue for the lawyers.
We plan to move out of California within a year need a reliable vehicle to do so. Please, if you can, help us get back on the road.
Thanks for taking the time to read and sharing where you can.
