Project Merritt Scouts
Donation protected
We were very disheartened when we learnt of all the people affected by the recent floods in BC. When we listened to individual stories of these people, of how much they have lost, it was painful…
We are just kids. We wanted to do something, but didn’t know what we could do.
Then my brother Kian and I heard from a family how when they go back to Merritt, they wouldn’t have any food, or bedding, or toiletries. Everything was washed away…
We figured we couldn’t get everything, but we could start with a care package, something to warm their hearts, and to let them know that we do care…
That thought extended to all the families in Merritt. Hence, Project Merritt was born.
Our goal is to collect at least 100 of each of the items we narrowed the list to, so that we can make 100 care packages, one for each family. If we get more, there will be more families that will receive these bags.
We are just kids, trying to do something meaningful, and we hope that through Red FM we can reach as many hearts as possible so that we can help as many people as possible, and show that little kids can make a big difference.
How can others help?
We will be at Bear Creek Park on Sunday Dec 19th from noon to 3pm with the Scouts to collect the donations as mentioned earlier by Kian. Things like non-perishable foods, stationary, blankets. Due to Covid protocols, we request that all items be new and in their original packaging please.
Please feel free to drop off any of these items requested between noon and 3pm Sunday Dec 19th at Bear Creek Park. Look for the Scouts.
We will also have brochures with an Amazon link at that time so that people can purchase the items requested online. When you go to the check-out, it asks you for delivery address. If you use the link we have, you will notice delivery to The Scouts. Click on that, and we will get it.
We need 100 of each of the items needed so please help us to help them. Every item counts.
Alternatively, we have a go-fund-me page for cash donations which will be used to buy items needed. 100% of the funds will go towards this cause. Look for Project Merritt by Scouts.
