About Me

I’m Fred Warburton. I’m from the UK and I am an aspiring Paralympic athlete, My guide and I have secured the qualification criteria for the Paralympic games in 2026 but we need your support to get us there.

Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with an incurable degenerative genetic retinal condition and told I would one day become blind. Right now, I have just six degrees of useful vision left.

Just 12 months ago, my guide James and I competed in our first race after a long layoff due to injury. Since then, we’ve climbed the world rankings and we have officially met the qualification criteria to ski at the 2026 Paralympic Games in Milano, Cortina.

This story is just getting started and we can’t wait to write it with you by our sides. Please follow along. We keep our Instagram - fredwabz - constantly updated.

We’re so lucky to have your support.

The Project Ambition:

Win a Paralympic gold medal by 2030 and improve the accessibility of winter sports for disabled athletes in Valle DʼAosta.

The Journey:

To qualify and prepare for the Paralympics, we need to compete in international ski races to earn FIS points and secure a spot in the Paralympics GB Team for 2026.

Competitions run until February 2026, with the Paralympic squad announced after a qualification window next season.

We are training hard to be ready for our first Paralympics.

We are currently focused on ski training, athletic preparation, and administrative planning for the season, while intensifying our efforts.

To fund the mission and cover racing expenses, we are actively seeking sponsorship opportunities.

So far, Fred and close family have solely funded the project, but as it grows, we aim to build partnerships to enhance training and race preparation, bringing us closer to realising our dreams.

Skiing is expensive, and visually impaired skiing comes with additional costs due to the need for a guide, hugely increasing expenses for equipment, travel, and accommodation.

Limited national team funding becomes available only after earning the points needed to join the World Class Program. I am seeking funding to support this journey.

If you have the means to donate to this project me and my guide James would hugely appreciate it. Any support means the world to us.
