Why PROJECT JT?
JT is short for Jason Turcotte, one of the brightest young club coaches in the nation, coaching Dynamo Swim Club to national age group significance. He had been selected as the head coach of Team USA’s boys at the 2017 Junior World Championships in Indianapolis, and would have headed the American delegation for the first-ever Junior World Championships meet to be hosted in the United States. He served as the head coach of Dynamo from 2006 through 2017 and was the eighth head coach of the organization. Jason had previously coached with Stanford University, the Naperville Riptide Swim Team (Chicago), and the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (Cleveland). Jason unexpectedly passed away in May 2017.
It was Jason’s vision to see a full redevelopment of the Chamblee facility. The first part of this renovation was completed in 2015 with the addition of new locker rooms, coaching offices, a conference room, weight room, and multi-sport room. His complete vision included a renovation of the DYNA DOME and 50m competition pool.
The video above details Jason's connection with one of his many incredible Dynamo alums and 2016 Olympian Gunnar Bentz, as told by Bentz himself, including why this project is important to Dynamo's future and Jason's legacy. Help us finish Jason’s long-time goal and continue to enrich Dynamo's future by being a part of Project JT and honoring Jason's legacy.
