Thanks for being here! I wish it was under better circumstances. Many of you have known our family for years, some of you maybe just for a short time and others we have yet to meet. In any case, we appreciate you taking the time to read this.
For those of you who know him, you know my dad as the jolly Irishman who lights up a room with his positive attitude and wicked sense of humor, his piano playing and good nature. Always ready with a quick smile and helping hand, he constantly puts his family and others before himself.
Last month, after 20 years of having a successful family business in a truly magical place, their shop had to close unexpectedly. My parents are actively trying to pursue different business venues and build a website, but are struggling as they currently have no income. Less than a month after closing the doors on their beloved shop, my dad was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer.
After an MRI and bone scans, we got a diagnosis and treatment recommendation and were thankful to hear the cancer had not spread and was specific to the prostate.
Due to these circumstances, my parents find themselves in need of help. I am trying to help raise money quickly to cover the cost of their rent so they can stay in their home and to cover medical expenses for his treatment.
After what we hope is a successful treatment, we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for helping with a BBQ at our home.
