Project Elevate Her is changing that.
The Mission
Project Elevate Her is a global, multi-year initiative led by mountaineer and clinical exercise physiologist Maia Meier.
Through a series of high-altitude expeditions - including the Seven Summits - this campaign is raising awareness and critical funding to improve diagnosis, care, and equity for women living with bleeding disorders worldwide.
Why This Matters
Bleeding disorders have long been misunderstood as conditions that primarily affect men.
As a result, women and girls around the world often face:
Delayed or missed diagnosis
Lack of access to appropriate care
Symptoms that are dismissed or normalized
This isn’t rare.
It’s systemic.
The Approach
Each expedition is more than a climb.
It’s a platform to:

- Bring visibility to a global issue
- Connect communities across regions
- Drive funding toward meaningful change
From Mont Blanc to the Himalayas and beyond, this journey is about making the invisible visible.
Where Funds Go
Funds raised through Project Elevate Her will support initiatives that:
- Improve awareness and education
- Expand access to diagnosis and treatment
- Support women navigating bleeding disorders
- Strengthen global collaboration across organizations
This is about creating change that lasts beyond a single expedition.
100% of funds raised will be distributed to five global bleeding disorder organizations to advance awareness, diagnosis, and care for women worldwide: WFH, CHS, EHC, HFA, NBDF
This project is deeply personal.
I’ve lived with von Willebrand disease (Type 2A) all my life - training, climbing, and building a career in human performance while quietly managing something that is often misunderstood and overlooked.
Over time, I’ve seen how easily women’s symptoms are dismissed, how long it can take to be taken seriously, and how many are left without clear answers or support.
Project Elevate Her is about changing that - not just through awareness, but by creating visibility, resources, and momentum for women who have gone too long unseen.
