Empower Maasai Girls Through Education

Hello, my name is Farzana La Rue, and I am committed to helping young Maasai girls in rural Kenya access boarding school education and a safer and brighter future.

This mission began after a life changing trip to Kenya in 2023. My daughters and I met an extraordinary Maasai woman named Tito in the lobby of a Maasai Mara lodge. Tito has devoted her life to helping girls in her village escape early forced marriages, teen pregnancy, and female genital mutilation (FGM). After returning home, Tito and I stayed in touch through WhatsApp. Through our conversations, I learned about the immense challenges these girls face and the urgent need for boarding school education and protection.

When Tito asked if I could help support several vulnerable girls, I wanted to be sure the situation was legitimate. I hired a local investigator to verify the need and assess the girls’ circumstances. Through that process we identified six orphaned Maasai girls who urgently needed support to continue their education.

Since then, with the help of generous donors, we have been able to sponsor these six girls in boarding school for 3 years now; something that would otherwise be impossible for them and their families.

The Progress We've Made Together:

Thanks to the Support and Generosity of Our Supporters:

• 6 Maasai girls have been able to attend boarding school safely
• They have completed multiple school terms and are continuing their education.
• They have gained confidence, stability, and hope for their futures.

One of the most memorable moments was when the girls took their first trip to Nairobi and visited the national museum. For many of them, it was the first time they had seen a major city. That experience opened their eyes to new possibilities and inspired dreams of careers and futures they had never imagined before.

Thanks to the Support and Generosity of Our Supporters:
We currently support 6 students:

• 5 girls attend Talek Primary Boarding School (Standards 1–6)
• 1 student is now attending Sekenani High School, a higher-performing secondary school that will help guide her toward future career opportunities after graduation.

Why Boarding School Matters:
Boarding school provides these girls with:

• Safety from early marriage and harmful practices
• Daily meals and healthcare access
• Consistent education and mentorship
• The chance to build independent futures

For many Maasai girls, education is the single most powerful tool to break cycles of poverty and inequality.

Our Current Fundraising Goal:

We are raising funds to continue supporting these six girls through upcoming school terms. Your donations help cover:

• School fees
• Boarding and meals
• Uniforms and books
• Basic health and food expenses during school breaks

Even a modest contribution can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

How You Can Help:
If you feel moved by this story, please consider:

• Making a donation
• Sharing this fundraiser with friends and family
• Helping us raise awareness about the importance of educating Maasai girls

Thank You

Your compassion and generosity are helping these girls build brighter futures. Education gives them the opportunity to grow into strong, independent women who can uplift their families and communities.

Together, we are not just educating girls, we are creating lasting change.

With gratitude,
