High schoolers to space: Project Caelus

Hello there!

We are Project Caelus, a team of high schoolers based in Virginia, who all share a passion for space exploration. Our mission is to send a liquid-fueled rocket to the edge of space (100 km) by the summer of 2021!

In detail, we're hoping to research the feasibility of liquid methane/liquid oxygen engines, along with rapid, additive manufacturing processes for rocket engines.

Our mission is complex - more complex than anything we've ever tackled before - but after all, it is rocket science, isn't it? Everything from how the sensors interface with the on-board computers, or how we ensure the abort systems keep everyone safe, or even how we make sure the rocket continues pointing up - there are many challenges to such an ambitious mission as this.

Mission-critical components such as the GPS, radio, flight computer, sensory equipment, and the specialized high-strength / high-temperature alloy steel used for the engine must be of sufficient quality to ensure the success of a flight, and the sheer price of this expensive equipment is why we are asking for your generosity today.

As a non-profit and a recent entry into an expensive industry, we are asking for your generous donations to keep our dream alive.

Below, you'll find some links if you're interested in where exactly your money is going:

In addition to space exploration, Project Caelus also understands the value of giving back to the community, which is why we began Caelus Computing: a tutoring service that aims to educate today’s youth in subjects ranging from computer science to mathematics. In order to keep this service running, and to keep encouraging the next generation of scientists any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Part of your money will also help pay for other outreach events we host at local schools where we inspire our community to pursue the wonderful and limitless field of aerospace. In addition, we've been invited to multiple STEM symposiums where we can further reach out to a broader audience and introduce the idea that STEM is not an exclusive field, but rather one that anyone with the willpower to pursue it can find success within it.

If you believe in our cause, our values, and the childhood dream that has captivated us all, please consider donating! No matter the size of your contribution, it is invaluable to us on our road to mission success.

Thank you so much!
