Project Base Camp, Phase 1
Tax deductible
Housing volunteers that respond to disaster situations is an ongoing challenge. With many of the usual accommodations like hotels being occupied by victims of the disaster, government entities or utility companies, volunteers are left to stay in local churches and some even sleep in their own vehicles. Our teams have experienced this lack in volunteers housing sleeping in an overcrowded gym and even having to shower in a prison while showing up to help those in need.
Our solutions, Project Base Camp!
ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Project Base Camp” facilitates short and long-term volunteer housing no matter the level of disaster or outreach needed.
Containing private bunk-rooms, bathroom facilities, communal kitchen and living area for teams to gather, Project Base Camp is a self-sustaining housing solution that can operate across the country, giving teams and partner organizations the security and confidence to respond to any disaster situation.
WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED
Infrastructure is key. It’s not easy to say yes to sleeping on the floor of a gym or church and showering in a stranger’s home. It’s not easy to work all day and wonder what’s for dinner. While serving, regardless of the housing arrangements, is the calling of a few, the reality is people unfortunately are not knocking the doors down to participate in this kind of relief effort.
SOLUTION
We have designed a mobile housing solution that will facilitate volunteer teams. Basic needs like sleeping arrangements, food, fellowship, and rest are often overlooked as the needs of the disaster become priority. Our goal is to make it easy for your volunteer team to say “yes” to serving others while we serve them.
WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR?
Every dollar will be used to finish a single trailer and pay off the balance of 2 additional trailers. We plan to debut Project Base Camp at an event in Oklahoma on November 9th and are looking for help to do it debt free.
Thank you for considering our project and God bless!!
