Help Malatya

For over 25 years, Red River Foods has maintained an office in Malatya, Turkey for the sourcing of apricots. Our colleagues in Turkey who have been with us since the beginning are part of our family. Now that Malatya has been hit so hard with this devastating earthquake, it is incumbent upon us to do all we can to support them in their desperate time of need.

Malatya is just 400 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake and over half of the city’s buildings were destroyed, many of them homes. Red River employees have lost friends and family as well as their belongings and homes. We are trying to act as quickly as possible to provide them with essential living supplies.

Red River Foods is committed to donating $25,000 and matching every dollar donated up to $25,000. We will be using those funds to deliver several pallets of supplies via air freight in the coming days and weeks. Our Richmond, VA team is coordinating efforts to source supplies and manage logistics to bring aid to the people of Malatya as fast as possible. We are also working to partner with the Turkish Embassy in DC and USAID to expand our impact.

How you can help:

- If you are interested in helping us increase our reach, we’ve established a GoFundMe page to receive monetary donations. Funds received will go directly towards supplies and freight costs.

- If you have connections to companies that offer nonperishable food, winter clothing and camping gear, we are looking to partner with companies to help us gather supplies. **Supplies must be NEW**

- Based on feedback from our team in Malatya; Diapers, Sleeping Bags, Winter clothing, Boots, and Non-perishable food items are among the most urgent items we will source.
