Hello Everyone,

My name is Andrew, a previous student of the late Professor Miroslav at SUNY Orange Community College. Professor Miroslav taught a ton of classes at the college, and I had the privilege to be in a few of them. He would always put a lot of effort in what did. Sadly, in May of 2025 he passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Miroslav was not only a professor, but to many students was a listening ear, a friend, and someone you could look up to; sometimes even a DJ. Our goal and hope is to fund enough money to buy a recycled bench in his memory. Environmental awareness was something very important to Professor Miroslav, hence why a recycled bench in his memory would be fitting.

Here is a little bit about Professor Miroslav from his friend and colleague.

He was born in Czechoslovakia when it was still part of the Soviet Union. His family fled initially to Austria, and ultimately to the United States. They settled in New York City. He attended the City University of New York. Professor Miroslav excelled in technical work, taking a graduate degree in Computer Science. Over a thirty-year career spanning small start-ups to international financial firms. He built the technical skills that he became known for, becoming a true expert in networking, system administration, and software development. Giving up his lucrative career in the industry, he took a position at SUNY Orange Community College (also known as Orange County Community College), where he shared his vast store of technical skills with students who reflected his work ethics and thirst for knowledge. Tragically, his life was cut far too short, as he was taken from us by cancer. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man, a knowledgeable and patient teacher, and a caring friend.
