Prodigies' Bells for Music Program

I have been so overjoyed to return to the music classroom after two years of nannying. I have been so blessed with such a supportive school community and amazing coworkers. My students have blown me away with their enthusiasm for learning and taking on any challenge I throw their way.

Understandably, though, teaching music during this pandemic has required some adjustments. We are not able to sing unless we are twelve feet apart, which is often not a possibility in smaller elementary classrooms. While there is so much more to music than singing, it has proved difficult to introduce melodic concepts, especially with younger students. At this point, the majority of our curriculum has been based on rhythmic concepts and understanding since I also cannot use any instruments that require projection (like recorder). Additionally, I would love to incorporate Orff instruments, but I am on a cart for music this year, wheeling into the classrooms, and I'm sure you can imagine the struggle of finding a way to bring large xylophone and metallophones from classroom to classroom

I was recently introduced to the Prodigies music curriculum and the small desk bells would be absolutely perfect to still maintain curriculum goals concerning melody and solfege patterns. These bells are durable, perfectly tuned, and packed in a box for easy transportation. My music budget cannot cover the cost of these bells ($700 for a 12 student set + tax, shipping &handling). I am turning to friends, family, and supporters of music education to help me raise funds for my students. These bells will primarily be used in the primary grade levels (K, 1, 2) but will also be of use to my upper grade levels (3, 4, 5, 6) and will be able to be used for many years to come, even after this pandemic is over.

I appreciate any help that you can provide!

Why GoFundMe and not DonorsChoose?: DonorsChoose is an amazing platform and I know that some people feel more comfortable donating, since the money never actually goes to the teachers. DonorsChoose handles the finances, purchases the product once the fundraising goal is met, and ships it out to the teacher. However, GoFundMe only allows teachers to request supplies through their preferred vendors and Prodigies is a company website, versus a vendor website, and is therefore not an option for DonorsChoose projects.
