For over 20 years, I've been grinding away in the marketing world, making the wealthy, wealthier. But then, the unexpected happened – I got laid off.
After having my role eliminated, I took a full month off reflecting on what to do next. I began the process of rolling out a marketing consulting agency, leveraging my extensive experience and marketing know-how and offer my services to businesses. Then the more I thought about it, I started thinking I want to only take on clients/projects that I want to, not need to. That then evolved into the thought of how I'd love to be able to utilize my skills to help businesses that could truly benefit from them but may not be able to afford them. Then, lighbulb moment! Pro-bono marketing.
Now, I'm on a mission to be able to offer my marketing services COMPLETELY FREE for the next year.
I will be dedicated to providing completely free marketing services to deserving small businesses across the US. Think of it as the Robin Hood of marketing, taking from the knowledge-rich and giving to the resource-poor.
What makes a small business "deserving"? I'm looking for businesses that are:
- Truly small: Fewer than 10 employees and under $1 million in annual revenue.
- Mission-driven: Making a positive impact on their community or the world.
- Passionate owners: Dedicated to their craft and eager to grow.
- And because the need is huge, my dream is to build a team of other volunteer marketers who are passionate about using their skills for good. More helping hands mean more small businesses empowered!
I'm already taking inquiries from small businesses who need support with everything from website design and branding to social media and video marketing. If you know a business that fits the bill, have them email [email redacted] to get on the list.
To get this off the ground, I'm aiming to raise $180,000. This will cover essential tools, software, overhead, and my own modest living expenses, so I can focus 100% on this mission for twelve months.
