Hi my name is Lisa, I am trying to raise funds for my daughter to have treatment for scoliosis, we waited 18 months just to even get a diagnosis appointment of the NHS but my daughter was in constant pain and I could not watch it anymore, so I decided to go private, she has now had her diagnosis from the scoliosis sos clinic in manchester who also do therapy treatments, I payed the £165 for the consultation but the cost of the treatment I cannot afford on my own, we have raised a little through a credit card but not enough to cover the full cost of £3000.40, credit card is only covering £900. Any help and money raised towards this would be truly appreciated.
The scoliosis has already stopped her dance career, she danced since the age of three, past her level 3 distinction in school and went on to college and university to get a degree in dance, it was during college that she started getting the back pain and her last year of uni she had to stop dancing because of the pain, she did pass the degree but not at the level she would of done, her dream after uni was to start her career dancing as a performer on cruise ships and then open her own dance school. These dreams went away because of pain, now it is also impacting her daily life through the pain. She has now had to reduce her hours down in work due to the pain.
She has been diagnosed in the mild form of scoliosis but that does not mean the pain is mild, people in this form can still have excruciating pain.
As off the mild diagnosis the NHS wont operate as its not severe enough although the pain is, so all she will get offered is strong pain killers which she could become addicted too and this wont stop the progression of the scoliosis which can progress 1-3 degrees each year so without treatment by the time she is 35 she could then be in the next level of the scoliosis, so this worries her when thinking off starting a family and being able to play with her children if fortunate to have them.
I do not want her just on pain killers for the rest of her life without actually treating the scoliosis, which is why I have set this page up so hopefully she can get the treatment in the clinic which can help with the pain and the progression.
Anything funded even if it is just a pound me and my daughter will truly appreciate.
Thank you for reading her story.
