Neurodiverse Education for Declan
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Cori, better known as Declan’s Mom. I’m raising funds to help cover the cost of a private school, specializing in neurodiverse students, for Declan. He’s been granted admission to Franklin Center (franklinmn.org), a special education academy, but the cost is near $40,000 a year. Declan has been granted tuition assistance and a scholarship, but we’ll still owe $10,000. I truly believe Franklin Center can completely change Declan’s life for the better.
For those who don’t know us, Declan is 14-years-old, and his life had been challenging from the start. Born a month early, at 4-days-old, Declan was diagnosed with a heart condition that would require a whole series of surgeries and would eventually lead to a heart transplant. By the time he was 5-years-old, Declan had survived 3 open-heart surgeries, had a stroke, and relearned to walk. Beyond his heart condition, Declan has had to live with Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome, a brain injury from his stroke, learning disabilities, an anxiety disorder and is on the Autism Spectrum. Again…his life has been challenging.
Due to all of Dec’s health concerns, we’ve been homeschooling for the past 4 years. I finally feel like it’s time for him to try in-person school again. Franklin Center is not only qualified to work with students like Declan academically, they also integrate life-skills and social-skills in to everything the kids do. Declan is excited to HAVE FRIENDS for the first time in years!! Being around kids like him, will be such a blessing. I just have to be able to cover the cost.
Thank you so much for reading this far and for considering helping us send Declan to Franklin Center!!
