Help us share this devotional with expectant moms

Story

GREAT NEWS! We were approached by a donor to double your impact. They will MATCH your donation! Do you work in a church, pregnancy center, or another non-profit that ministers to women walking through unplanned pregnancies? Do you believe in supporting moms and babies through challenging circumstances and in the value of life? Do you want to be a part of providing a book of hope to encourage women in unexpected places? If yes, then this project is for you! We are Katie and Leah, two moms who have walked through unplanned pregnancies ourselves. In the last 20 years since our journies began, we've seen a glaring gap of spiritual support for expectant moms who often experience shame and fear. Filled with hope for the future, we have created a 30 day devotional that assures women that though this time may feel devastating, God can bring growth and beauty once more. Much like the Fireweed flower after a forest fire. We know, because we've been there and reached the other side! We pray our stories bring assurance that God loves her and can work in her life, too. Each day has a scripture to meditate on, an encouraging message from Leah or Katie, and prompts to reflect and write what's on her heart each day. You can download sample chapters here. We wrote this book to help her flourish- but we need your help! We are partnering with Kingdom Winds Publishing to publish this book, with the goal of it being at an affordable price to donate to pregnancy centers, churches, maternity homes, human trafficking organizations, adoption agencies, and for families to utilize when their world feels upside down. As a teenager, she experienced two unplanned pregnancies with two different paths: adoption and parenting. She has been writing, speaking, and serving in the adoption and pro-life communities since 2004. Her passion for helping others blossoms from the light found within the dark trenches of her life and the support surrounding her. Sharing vulnerably about the beauty and aches of life experiences, she aims to inspire hope and healing. Leah’s writing and story have been featured on national platforms, including Focus On The Family, Epoch Times, LiveAction, and HuffPost. Her memoir The Sixteenth Year was published in 2023 thanks to funds raised on Kickstarter. She has a very open adoption with them both and has enjoyed watching them flourish throughout the years. She is married and is parenting a newborn daughter. While her story hasn’t always felt hopeful, she looks back on the countless goodness and grace that God has bestowed on her life. He truly has used her story to speak to mothers of all walks. She has an organization with another birth mother called The Table DFW that supports men and women who have placed a child(ren) for adoption through support groups and in-person events. Katie’s story has been featured on podcasts like Birth Mothers Amplified and The Open Adoption Project, BraveLove’s storytelling platforms, and on Adoption.com. Along with being a birth mother, Katie was adopted as a child and has had an open adoption with her biological family for 14 years now. The weight and wonder of discipleship are described in Titus in older women teaching younger women how to navigate the dark and difficult times. Katie and Leah's willingness to witness to God’s strength and plans from their stories will be multiplied like the child who offered his loaves and fishes to so many younger women walking their hard path." -Pastor Howard, Aspen Grove Church "When I heard Katie and Leah were doing this project, I was thrilled. Their vulnerability plus their genuine desire to encourage birth moms makes them the perfect team to collaborate on this much needed resource. The more support out there for birth moms the better! Thankful for these two women who didn't just say "I wish we had this..." but they're actually doing it." -Laura Bruder, former Executive Director at BraveLove "Katie and Leah have always been compassionate and mindful of birth moms. I have admired their desire to see needs and work to fill them. From books, to support groups, sharing their stories, helping inform adoptive families and now this devotional. Their desire to serve is admirable and I am excited to see the impact their work continues to make." -Ashley Boschen, Program Manager at BraveLove "I’ve been honored to work with Leah on a number of projects—she’s a gifted writer, a knowledgeable advocate, and her experiences will both inform you and inspire you." -Melissa Ohden, author of You Carried Me "Leah's courage is contagious!" - Amy Ford, author of A Bump in Life and founder of Embrace Grace
