Tiffany Riley has been a Vermont educator, serving Vermont youth for 20 years. She is a very caring, compassionate educator who puts students at the center of their learning. Tiffany was recently wrongfully dismissed from her position as Principal of the Windsor School because of a post she wrote on her personal Facebook page that raised questions about the ideology of the Black Lives Matter organization and concerns over the increase in violence sweeping our nation.
“I firmly believe that Black Lives Matter, but I DO NOT agree with the coercive measures taken to get this point across; some of which are falsified in an attempt to prove a point. While I want to get behind BLM, I do not think people should be made to feel they have to choose black race over human race. While I understand the urgency to feel compelled to advocate for black lives, what about our fellow law enforcement? What about all others who advocate for and demand equity for all? Just because I don’t walk around with a BLM sign should not mean I am a racist.”
The School Board very publicly announced to the community that her post was “ignorant, prejudiced, and lacked judgement.” The Superintendent of Schools called her post, “outright racist.” They later stated that they were “resolved that she would no longer lead the school.” Just Google search Principal Tiffany Riley and you will see the national publicity her post has received.
Tiffany and her family have experienced irreparable emotional, financial and long term damage, as a result of this issue. Tiffany has been left with no choice but to take legal action. Her goal is to fight for hers, and others First Amendment Rights, and the right to Due Process in these types of situations.
While the fight is well worth it, it will not go without further emotional and financial harm to her and her family. Please help support Tiffany and her family by contributing to this Go Fund Me. All donations will go towards legal fees and damages rendered to Tiffany as a result of the board’s actions.
