Maia Ransom is only 15 days old. In the 2 weeks of her beautiful life she seemed healthy as she slept, ate, cuddled, cried and cood. Nap time with mom and dad and kisses from her older sister, Mihla,  are her favorite ❤. On March 5 all of our lives changed.  On our way to an appointment with mommy, Maia stopped breathing and turned blue. Mommy and abuela raced her to the emergency room where she was quickly admitted,  then transferred to another hospital, and ultimately airlifted to CHOP, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It turns out that Maia's aorta is too narrow to pump enough blood to the lower half of her body. She was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta.  Precious Maia has a rough road ahead of her, Mom and Dad are doing everything possible to be there every step of the way for Maia and keep a normal routine for older sister Mihla. Unfortunately,  mom is self employed and is unable  to work during this time.  Dad has also been forced to take several days off of work without pay. Maia is an hour away from home and Mihla, is only 1 1/2 toddler.  CHOP does not allow children to spend the night at the hospital and only one parent at a time may  occupy a sleeping area when available.  Other options are currently full or not available for the month of March.  Maia's family is requesting donations to help her family be able to commute and stay close to her during this terrifying time. Maia is a warrior princess and we are confident that she will overcome this and be right back at home with her family soon. Please pray for our beautiful baby girl.
